The importance of music in childhood

Updated: Aug 7

Exploring music is so beneficial for children (and adults)! Manipulating instruments, singing, and dancing helps develop language and motor skills. According to Carnegie Hall, music also establishes a level of closeness between the parent and child as lullabies are often used to soothe. It is also a way to help children explore their emotions in a fun, exciting way! For some children, early exposure to music will develop a lifelong appreciation for music and even a career path!

Some musical activities to try with your little ones include:

  • Playing with musical instruments

  • Singing nursery songs

  • Listening to classical music or other age appropriate genres

  • Creating musical instruments using recyclables
